183 A Bit Of TLC With The Body Shop Seaweed Face Mask

Until recently I didn’t use The Body Shop much because it isn’t the cheapest product you can find. This face mask is on the expensive side at £10 or £11 a pot. It doesn’t seem like a big pot either at 100ml but with this product, a little goes a long way! It says on the body shop website that the Seaweed oil balancing clay face mask clarifies, controls and mattifies. All of which I would like, no I would love. It is designed for combination/oily skin, if you have sensitive skin, please be careful as clay masks are known not to be gentle.

The mask claims to deeply cleanse your skin with purifying and balancing seaweed oil.

Over the past few weeks, my skin has been poor. Breaking out and getting dry, likely down to the temperature changes, it suddenly got cold in the UK a little while ago, but the past two weeks have been almost mild. It feels like it has gone from sunshine to minus one and cars covered in ice in the morning to a mild spring day.

When I saw this in the shop, I thought I must try it! I thought the colour might be green like seaweed, but it is a grey colour. It smells refreshing and relaxing a bit like the smell of a beach. If they made a seaweed candle, I would buy it I might go and look for one. I think I would love the smell as a candle.

On the pot, it says to apply a generous layer, on the website it says to apply a thin layer. I didn’t read the website until after I applied so I applied a thick later but the second time I used a thin layer. I recommend applying a thinner layer, it is quicker and easier to use. I use a specific mask brush which makes it easy to apply. I can’t remember where I got my brush, but you can get them in a lot of shops. Here is a brush similar to the one I use; it does cost more than the mask but it will last forever. I’ve been using mine for over 3 years now.

When you apply, it wakes you up and feels cooling and slightly tingly on your skin. The product says to leave it on your face for 10 minutes. I usually wait until I have some work to do, put it on and wait for it to dry while I am working away or watching a TV show.

It took about 25 minutes for a thick layer to dry completely on me, the second time I applied a thinner layer and it dried within 10 – 12 minutes; the mask dries a lighter shade of grey which I find extremely helpful. It is a visual sign that it has done its job and it is time to take it off. It didn’t say on the packaging that it is a setting mask unless it is hidden somewhere. It is common sense for a clay mask to be set but not everyone would know that. To remove I use sponges.

I fill a sink with some warm water; I place a warm flannel over my face wetting the product to loosen it. Then begin to remove it with the sponges gently. It takes 5-10 minutes to remove it depending on what you use to remove it. Immediately after the first use – My skin felt, refreshed, soft, NOT GREASY, and not irritated.

I would recommend this mask to everyone, if you have sensitive skin, you might be alright. Do not use it if you are super sensitive. You can always try a small spot and see how it goes. Please take responsibility for your actions and be safe.

I have already recommended it to two friends. I will be repurchasing this product when I eventually run out that is. It is £10, not the cheapest but if it works, I do not mind spending a little extra.
