146 Change in Weather

The weather has begun to change for the colder time of year. Is anyone else finding themselves putting a jumper on, or waking up in the morning and reaching for that all-important dressing gown? I know I definitely have been getting up to my fluffy slippers and big fluffy dressing gown.

I always find that my lips pay the price when we are between seasons; I go through mountains of lip balm. Ever thought about changing some products for the winter mouths? The main activity that I change is I swap out a shower for a bath often.

Let’s start with how I alter my daily routine for cold wintery days.

I tend to drink a lot hotter drinks, fund fact I do not drink coffee. Hot chocolate or tea all the way, I have always been like this, it may change but I doubt it. I have never enjoyed a coffee. I find myself wearing a lot of jumpers, and multiple pairs of socks; I often buy a new pair of slippers if I can. Scarfs are 100% a must-have, as are gloves.

I have a wooden floor in my home, so I sometimes put towels on the floor, so my feet don’t freeze to death while I am getting ready. I route through my cupboard bringing out the thick fleecy blankets. I put the heat on in the car, and use many candles, particularly vanilla-scented ones. Okay, so I am going to talk about a couple of products you may want to consider swapping.

Lip products, winter may not be kind to your matte lipsticks. As they tend to be quite drying you may find that your lips are arguing with the weather. Possibly try the same shade but not matte or add a lip gloss on top to add a little moisture. Staying with the lips theme, consider a thicker lip balm or a more hydrating one. If you use one with SPF, you could use a cheaper alternative as your lips won’t need a high SPF anymore. I say that but at the end of the day, a little extra SPF never hurt anyone, making it okay to keep the same throughout winter.

Next, you would possibly want to change to waterproof mascara, particularly if you are likely to be walking home in the rain. Getting home to smudged mascara running down your face is never a good look. Again, not essential as you can get by with a normal one.

Last but not least, your moisturiser. If you are anything like me then the winter plays havoc with your skin, the dryness is actually becoming painful. I try to keep a cream in my handbag to try and combat this. I have found if I like the smell of it then I am more likely to use it. Keep an eye out in future posts to see which one I use.
