This product was a mixed bag for me, I didn’t hate it, but I didn’t love it either. I liked the size of this one; it seemed like luxurious bath bombs you can get from Lush, and when you are paying Lush prices, I expect to be impressed or in some way surprised by the quality.
I wasn’t sure what to expect from this one as I had never used a Jelly Bomb before, it didn’t feel any different to your average bath bomb but that didn’t mean much, the bubble bars have a similar feel to the bath bombs. I thought it would be a bit softer or spongy because of the name yet it seemed the same as a bath bomb. The look was cool, particularly the ghost touch for Halloween.
I am not sure if the ghost symbol on either end was a Halloween touch or if the product was a Halloween product, so it is unknown if it is still being sold. They do sell other versions of the jelly bomb; I think there is a pink one and a green one. Now, you may be wondering why it is I have a Halloween product in March, well, I managed to build quite a collection of Lush products; therefore, I still have the Halloween products lying around. I have banned returning to Lush until I have used all the products I have.
So, I did enjoy this product, for the most part, it didn’t stand out as others have but it was enjoyable. The texture of the product fizzing was different to your average bath bomb. It was weird, but not in a bad way, it was interesting. It almost fizzed to a layer of fluff on the water, who doesn’t want fluffy water? I liked the scent; it was gorgeous with the perfect amount of citrus. I am not sure what it is, but I am obsessed with citrus scents now. It wasn’t an overpowering scent, but it was there.
I hate the ones that fizz through within a couple of minutes, this one wasn’t the slowest, but it stuck around for a bit, making it feel worth the money. Although I’m not a fan of the gel-like layer that sat on the top of the water once fizzed, it was probably good for your skin, but it was slimy which wasn’t pleasant. I suppose that is why it is called Ectoplasm, it is meant slimy, and that’s how people perceive Ectoplasm. With that in mind, I think that this has a great name, the slimy substance does dissolve eventually but it sticks around a little too long for my liking.
I would advise you to keep your hair as far away from the water as possible when using this one, you could end up in a greasy situation if you get your hair in the slimy part. This I imagine would not be a pleasant experience. Overall, I don’t love it and I don’t hate it. I don’t think I would buy it again for myself, but I would recommend it as a prize for a Halloween party game. I do want to try the other jelly bombs as I may like them more than this one. I would recommend giving it a go, even if it is just for the experience.
