In this day in age, everyone has multiple email addresses. It is growing increasingly easy for people to gain access to information about people’s businesses and life through their emails. There has been a dramatic rise in the use of the internet, and the risk of being hacked.
I had a bit of a mare with pretty much all my accounts recently. I think it may have been from having my email account hacked. If you have been reading the news you will probably know people are encouraged to change their passwords. I have all my social media accounts, my bank, my studies, and important insurance contacts attached to my email address and pretty much all of them urged me to change my password due to suspicious activity. Meaning that someone had signed on from a location and they do not think it was me that signed in. Sadly, this happened a few times, so I have decided to change my email and move all my accounts.
So how do you avoid trouble with your email address?
If you get emails from a shop, likely to be able new offers or sales coming u. Do not follow the link in the email, go to the website yourself. Often it is hard to tell if a link is safe or not, so I just go to the website. Especially if you have anything to do with your bank details! DO NOT EVER follow the links from a bank.
If you follow and link in an email and it asks you to enter details, just STOP and close it. Go to the website and sign in separately. This is the safest way to do it.
Stay safe on the internet, there are some crazy people out there!
