Dark evenings, frosty mornings and cold nights have officially arrived. Today was the first day where I wanted to stay in bed because it was warm. That is one thing I struggle with, getting out of bed in the winter. I try to not put the heat on if I can but sometimes you just need to have it on while you are getting ready so early in the morning.
I love that mornings are now bright as the clocks have gone back but I hate that I am getting home in the pitch black in the evenings. I couldn’t see the other side of the road when I walked out of work today. I had to hope I was walking in the right direction for the gap in the wall.
Don’t get me wrong I like being able to put on some thick cosy pyjamas, lighting a candle or two, dimming the room and just having a cosy evening watching a movie under the duvet but I struggle a lot with the cold. I already have two blankets on top of my winter duvet. I honestly do not know how people can stand the cold in countries like Finland or Russia where they have super cold winters.
I love the look of proper snowy winter, but in England, we just get wet and miserable winters. It is just horrible rain. We rarely get a decent amount of snow. I would love to go somewhere on holiday one Christmas when I can have a white Christmas. I will be shocked if I ever see snow on Christmas day in England.
I think it is time to look for that winter scarf, hat, and gloves. That is one thing I never anticipated; how cold your hands feel on the steering wheel of a car.
