455 June 2018 Makeup Haul - Part Two

As promised, I now have part two of the makeup items I have bought/picked up. As explained in part one a lot of the stuff I have, and I am going to speak about today came as gifts with the order I made.

The first five items are all Bourjois items. I believe I got them all in a deal together. If you want a tip, if there is something you want to buy, bookmark it, or screenshot it and when you get a minute when you are waiting for something, have a look online to see if it is on offer anywhere. It is a great way to give you a chance to think about if you want it and if you decide you do want it you are likely to get the best deal for it.

Bourjois Paris Quad Smokey Stories Eye Shadow Palette

I will be honest I only picked this one up because it meant I got the gift with my purchase. I just chose the item I would most likely use instead of the one that I wanted which means I fell into the trap. If they were not given the gift, I wouldn’t have spent the money on this.

I do have to say I love the colours of this one; it would be great for parties or special occasions. I love a little bit of sparkle if I am going out at night. As always, the packaging is unique and innovative. It almost rocks back and forth; I suspect there would be less damage picking it up and putting it down as it would rock instead of feeling the impact of hitting the ground or table. Or they just thought it was nice packaging. I haven’t got a use for this one yet, but I am sure I will pull it out when my next event is. I am unsure of the quality yet because it is still safe in its packaging, however, look out for a review or first impressions. It being Bourjois I have high hopes for this product.

Now, I don’t know much about this product, so I had a quick look on Boots.com and it supposedly has a primer in the lightest shade for maximum wear. Don’t you just hate it when you put your makeup on and by the end of the night the shadow has gone? I will keep an eye on how long this eyeshadow lasts. It isn’t the cheapest you will find; Bourjois isn’t the cheapest brand in the shops, but it does have a good reputation for its products. I haven’t had a problem with them before; the only thing I find is that the bronzers are too dark for my vampire pale skin.

Bourjois Healthy Balance Matte Powder

Again, I didn’t particularly pick this item up because I wanted it. I picked it up because of the packaging and the size. I am going away for a long weekend, and I was looking for the smallest powder I could find, I like to try and keep my makeup as small as possible when I go away.

I have got into the loose powder compared to the compact but they are typically bigger so I wanted to pick up an item that I could place in my bag with no problem. I have always wanted to try this item but with a tight budget being a student I just used what I already knew as I didn’t have the room to waste money on products that I didn’t like. I admit now I don’t have money to waste but I have a bit of room for bad products.

I think the powder is very important when completing makeup if you have one that doesn’t quite work the way you want it you could end up over powdering to compensate and risk the cakey look. On the other hand, you could just end up shiny every five minutes. A powder is important for keeping your makeup looking good throughout the day and keeping it together. I am excited to try this one out, I want to like this product because it also has a mirror which makes it the best powder ever.

This item costs £8.99. Not a bad price overall, for a high street brand that is just out of the cheaper range, but you can spend a lot more if you wish to do so. Bourjois Volume Reveal Mascara

This item was part of the gift I received with my order. If you ask me, I would probably never have used this if I didn’t get it free. I have small eyes, so I tend to struggle if the wand is big, but I had to get the gift, right? I am going to try this one, I wouldn’t normally have chosen it, but I am willing to give anything a go.

I like the Volume section of the name so again I am excited about this item. I am very much an eye girl when it comes to makeup. I spend the most time on my eyes, so I must have a mascara that I like. I have so many that have just gone to waste because I didn’t like them and left them in the back of my drawer for emergencies if I ran out of my favourite one. I love that this has a mirror on the side, perfect if you want to do your mascara on the go.

I haven’t used the mirror yet because I want to use my current mascara up first, but I am looking forward to this product. The packaging is very different, to my knowledge I don’t think anyone other brand does a triangle mascara, correct me if I am wrong. This one comes in three shades which is not very common. Most come in black or brown, but you don’t usually get a choice in the shade of black that you want. It comes in Ultra Black, Black and Waterproof Black. I have got the Black one. Hopefully, it is dark enough for my liking. The price for this item is typically more than I would spend on mascara, so it was good that it was a gift.

Bourjois Brow Duo Sculpt Pencil

This was an item I got free with the bits I bought. I was in two minds about taking it if I am honest because I didn’t think I was going to use it. I have never been a fan of brow products; I never really got into the hype. Don’t get me wrong I do my eyebrows, but I just do not go to town on them as some people do. Mine are not prominent so they are very easy to manipulate into what I would like them to look like. It is safe to say for this item I did not have high hopes for it; I didn’t have anything to compare it to. It was my first attempt at using a brow pencil.

I do like the duo part of this item; it’s a two-in-one which I love. It doesn’t always work well because there is no guarantee you are going to be able to use both items, but it saves a lot of space if you do use both. On this item, being a pencil, you won’t save much space in your travel bag because a pencil is easy to slot in.

I will attempt to use this item, but I have a sneaky feeling that it will end up either in the drawer collecting dust or I will give it to a friend. Things like this I tend to use once and not like them because I am not used to them, then when I have the time, I will sit down and use them properly and end up liking them more than the first time I tried. Bourjois Rouge Edition Velvet Lip Gloss – 07 Nude-ist

Up until recently, I have never been one to go for Bourjois, I always thought it was a bit pricey for me when I was younger. Now I am working full time I have the space to use different brands and try new items out. If you know me, you will know I am not very adventurous with bright makeup. I tend to stick to neutral colours and remain in my safe comfort zone. However, recently I have been trying to get different coloured lipsticks and get it to try new ones out. I have kept it safe, but I have gone for very dark nudes, I haven’t quite made it to the bright reds or oranges.

This lipstick is a nude colour for most people; they always appear darker on me because I have such fair skin. I haven’t tried this yet, but I am excited to. I want to like this colour because it would go with most makeup looks. This lip gloss comes in 30 shades which is just perfect. If you cannot find a colour you like in this range, I don’t know what is wrong because you are bound to at least like one of them, you don’t have to love it. For me, it might be more of a winter colour, as it is quite dark, but I can bring it out for an evening out. If you would like to look at colours from this range head to your local boots.

The next two items are the fabulous Maybelline. I love a bit of Maybelline, just such a versatile brand. They have one of the widest ranges for a drugstore level of makeup.

Maybelline Great Lash Mascara x2

This has been my go-to mascara for years; very rarely do I pick up something different. Usually, if I have a new mascara that is not this one it is because it came as a gift or some sort of offer. I can’t even count how many of these I have used or how many years I have been using them. Mascara is such a big part of makeup for me. It makes an eye look; it is like the icing on the cake. No makeup look is complete without a bit of mascara.

I like this one because of the wand, it is lovely and small. I struggle with the bigger wands because my eyes are on the smaller side. Even with the small wand, I tend to struggle with the corners.

I just love this mascara, the wand, the formula, and the colour are perfect for me. It is a nice solid black colour. If you would like to pick one of these up it is just £5.99 from your local Boots or Superdrug. I think this is available in a lot of supermarkets as well.

Maybelline New York SuperStay Matte Ink in 65 Seductress

Now, if you know me you will know I am not a fan of lip products. Like most young girls I started with pink which I just didn’t like on me, so I just didn’t use lipstick. However, as I have grown, I have become more adventurous and branched out to other colours you can use for lipstick. I quickly learnt that a dark nude is my colour. I have pale skin that has a sort of grey appearance at times, so I have found that any lip product with a hint of brown works for me.

I have previously been advised that a bright red would look nice, but I am yet to find one that I am willing to try. Red looks amazing on a lot of people but I feel my style of makeup just doesn’t go with a red lip. If you have pale skin and you know a subtle red that looks nice, please let me know because I would love to try one.

But for now, I will stick to what I know. I tried the tester of this on my hand in the shop and I liked it, so it went straight in my basket. I am trying to experiment with lipsticks and try new things so that is the main reason I picked up this item. I haven’t yet tried this, but I have big plans to try this out.
