Well, this week was a bit of a blur. Monday I was just doing bits around the house, getting things in order, doing a bit of organising etc. I did a bit of organising. Do you ever end up with just a huge pile of paperwork that you have been putting to the side to sort out, but never have? Yeah, I went through and sorted all of that out! Good, aren’t I?
Anyway, on Tuesday at 4:30 in the afternoon, I got the call that I wanted to go back to work, which was lovely. However, they wanted me back on Wednesday morning! So, they gave me about 5 hours, to have dinner, find lunch, find everything I needed, get washed and get my back ready, so it was a bit of a panic. I would have preferred if they gave me a little bit longer to get myself sorted. Anyway, I am telling you this because you guys’ sort of got abandoned as I had to drop what I was doing and get myself ready.
I’ll be honest, I wasn’t super excited about going back to work. I was quite enjoying chilling at home with my family. I know a lot of people are struggling with the lockdown/quarantine, but I enjoyed it. I knew this is likely NEVER going to happen again in my lifetime, so I wanted to soak up the free time. I do want to point out it has nothing to do with my current workplace, I do not have the words to tell you how great they are.
Not going to lie to you Wednesday morning was not fun, I slept for a total of 45 minutes (not sure why) so I was tired, getting ready was something I hadn’t done for 3 months and I had no idea what the traffic was going to be like so it was like I started my job over again.
I couldn’t have asked for a nicer welcome back. Everyone seemed excited to see me which was a nice experience (I was new in February) so I wasn’t sure if people would remember me. Even colleagues who I only see for a couple of minutes a day said welcome back, so it was nice.
I forgot my computer password! (Of course). I am usually quite good with these things, but it was the one thing I didn’t have in what I call my work bible. It is one notebook where I keep the “how to do” instructions. I got used to the system quickly which was handy.
There were a few things that I was asked to do, and I had to ask for help luckily my friendly colleagues were extremely helpful.
Overall, it was bittersweet. I loved the welcome, and it was nice to start getting back to a routine, but it was all a big rush so now I fell behind with writing and decorating my room. I didn’t have anything for lunch so that was a bit of a scrabble each day. I missed my sister who was coming over for the first time since lockdown started. (I hadn’t seen her since Christmas).
Anyway, that is a little update and an explanation as to why I just disappeared for a couple of days. Hopefully, now that I am beginning to set a new routine in place, I will be able to get back on a proper schedule and I will be able to stop explaining things to you.
