As you may have read previously, I have trouble finding a foundation that is the correct tone/shade for my skin. So far, I have not found one that is perfect for me. I have found ones that I like but I haven’t found my go-to foundation. With this in mind, when I saw this foundation and the number of shades, they have I was immediately interested to see they had the shade for me. They currently hold 19 different shades, more than most foundations I have tried recently.
I liked the packaging of this product. It is a lightweight tube which limits the contamination of the product; you aren’t taking an applicator out of the pot and putting it back in to apply it, which is the cause of contamination with dust or food particles in the air. Anything you apply to your skin should be kept as sterile as physically possible every day like. I hate to use tubs because dust gets in, you put your own hands in which can have all sorts on. The packaging doesn’t have the luxury feel of a glass bottle as it is a plastic tube, it is a matte finish tube, very practical packaging particularly if you travel a lot because it doesn’t weigh anything. I also like that it is a screw-lid tube, it is secure, so it cannot fall off and get lost like a pump bottle lid does and then goes everywhere in your bag ruining it. The amount of makeup makes I have lost due to foundations covering the insides.
The foundation has a light and loose consistency which gives away that the coverage is going to be on the lighter scale most of the time but not always. You can get a light foundation which a good coverage they are just hard to find. When I first applied it, sadly it confirmed my suspicions of the light coverage which if you hadn’t guessed I do not like.
This isn’t the end of the world, it just means it probably won’t be my favourite, but it is perfect for those days when you don’t want to wear a lot of makeup or you just want to pop to the shops quickly, it can also come in handy if you are in a rush as it doesn’t need a lot of time to blend out. It does neutralise your skin but is not great for covering blemishes or any discolouration on the skin. It applies easy and blends well, so the application is quick which is great when I am running late for work. I apply foundation with a beauty blender; I have not tried a brush, so I am not sure of the finish for using a brush.
It has a very natural finish once applied which I love in a foundation, I don’t like base makeup that looks fake, and I like it to look as natural as possible. Of course, when someone’s skin looks flawless you know they are 99% wearing foundation. Very few people are blessed with amazing skin. I prefer makeup to look like your skin and to be used to enhance your natural features, not a layer on top of the skin to hide. I use my makeup as sparingly as possible; the less I can apply the better for me.
Contouring is very popular now which is a perfect example of less is more. Contour teaches people that they can enhance what they have by using shading and highlighting. One of the things I like about this foundation is that you don’t feel it on your skin; you can’t feel it melting down your face and you don’t feel if you touch your face, it will come off and look awful. I always powder you could get away with no powder with this product. As far as I am aware the foundation is scent free making it great for sensitive skin.
Around lunchtime it needs a bit of powder to cover the bits that have worn off, particularly around my nose, every foundation comes off around my nose first; I am not sure why it just always has, so I have stopped expecting otherwise. This must be where the most oil is produced on my skin; I do wear glasses so maybe they have something to do with it. With this foundation, it is quite easy to add a bit of foundation and reset it with powder throughout the day which does mean carrying it around with you. I don’t think I would go to this foundation for a special occasion or rely on it to cover everything. This foundation is not the best in the market, but it isn’t awful to use. I quite like to use it as it is so easy and doesn’t cost an arm and a leg. I have always said if you are going to splurge on makeup start with a foundation. A good base will make the look for you every time. This product is great for every day it is just so quick and easy to work with.
When the end of the day comes and I get home from work, it is more or less time for this foundation to come off; it can’t last too much longer. It doesn’t look terrible it just looks like you have been wearing it all day on a busy day. I do also have it on for about 10-11 hours, so it does well overall for a low-priced product. It is not one that you want to wear if you are going out with your friends after work though. It isn’t a bad price which is a bonus, most foundations are anywhere between £7 and £70 and sometimes more. This one is just a mere £6.99. I do like this foundation, not my favourite though.
I did stop using this product for a while, about a month ago I tried it out again with a primer and a new concealer, this time I liked it. What I did was apply a bit more concealer than I would usually, dotting it all over my face. Then I used the foundation to blend it all. It works amazingly when you use it this way. It does make it medium-full coverage, but it doesn’t last all day. It is still the same foundation, adding a bit of concealer isn’t going to change the product completely.
For those of us who like to go full coverage, this would be great to give your skin a break occasionally, I would recommend this foundation and I will probably repurchase it. Let me know if you give it a go.
