597 My Lush Experience

I have been a fan of Lush products ever since I can remember. My only complaint… my nearest one is roughly a 20-minute drive in an expensive parking area with limited parking. It is also in the opposite direction of my normal shopping and errand locations. If I am to visit, it is usually purely to go to Lush. I try to wait until I have no products left and go and buy as much as I can carry and maybe a little extra. If I come across one, then there is no choice. I must go in and spend my hard-earned cash on an awesome product line. Now, on to my storytime. I mean it isn’t that far away, but it is justifying the time and money spent on just going to this one shop, I try to go on a Sunday if I do go because that is the cheapest parking.
On to my Lush experience, I did a quick day trip to London, well mostly Oxford Street. It was pouring with rain, so it was quiet, well quiet for Oxford Street. I knew before we left, that I wanted to go into Lush, but I usually buy a few bits, so I decided for the sake of my shoulder I would leave Lush until last. They are not very light either once you’ve got two or three products.
I was pleasantly surprised when I got to the Lush shop, amazingly it was quiet I was their only customer. I never thought that would happen especially down Oxford Street. The one near me, you must fight through the crowd to have a look and get the ones you want. Anyway, I was looking for the scrub that I wanted. The RUB RUB RUB sky blue one and no, it had nothing to do with the fact that it was blue at all. I didn’t know the name of it at the time, but I did know it was a gorgeous bright blue colour so scanned through to find the colour. It is a lot lighter in person, still though.
As I found the one, I wanted and was picking it up, a lovely young woman walked over. Usually, I hate it when a sales assistant starts hassling you. My immediate thought was GREAT, someone speaking to me puts me off for some reason, I feel as if that means you look bored and uninterested, so they want to encourage you to purchase something. I prefer to be left to look and ask if I want to. However, the woman didn’t do the normal “Can I help you?” she wasn’t trying to persuade me to purchase anything, she asked me if I would like to try their newest scrub (which I was standing next to and looking at). Granted a trial usually ends up in your buying the product but it isn’t someone saying, “This is our new product, you should buy it”. As it wasn’t forced on me and it was pleasant, I thought why not give it a go, I am buying a scrub anyway.
The women knew everything about the scrub which is impressive. She knew the scents, the ingredients, and just all the facts about the product. When she asked if I wanted to try it, I thought she would put a bit on my hand and show me the colour, let me smell it, feel the exfoliating ingredient etc. Nope, she washed my entire arm, I had to take my jumper off so she could get my entire arm. Don’t get me wrong, I agreed to everything, she didn’t do anything that I wasn’t okay with, I just didn’t expect to have my arm washed down Oxford Street or any street for that matter.
Once that was over, I did buy the product. You might be thinking “See, you fell in the trap” and you are right, I did sort of getting talked into buying the product which is why she offered the demo to get me to buy it. When this happens to me in any situation, I try to remember why I entered the shop, and I went into Lush to purchase a scrub and a face mask. It just so happened that I came out with a different scrub from what I had in my mind. I didn’t spend any extra money; I didn’t go bankrupt. I just got to test the product before I purchased it. The sales assistant got points for selling the new item (if you work in retail, you will know what I mean. If you do not, shops tend to do incentives to sell their new products such as one free if you sell the most, a box of chocolates etc. I got a scrub as wanted so it was a win-win situation, what could go wrong?
One thing that always stands out when it comes to lush for me is their recycling policy, if you know what I am on about then you must agree it is a commendable act for a human let alone an entire company. You are probably looking for me to tell you about the recycling policy, aren’t you? Well here goes.
If you have ever bought a cream, scrub or anything that comes in a tub you will know they are black and have a screw-on lid. If you read the label it will explain to you. If you take 5 empty CLEAN pots into Lush, they will give you one free face mask. Alternatively, you can keep them at home and use them yourself for products.
I wasn’t aware of this until now, I generally only purchased the bath bombs and bubble bars as I thought the other items were a bit expensive, but I can see why now. They are worth the price. I can guarantee I will be saving the pots for a rainy day. A little added tip, if you don’t use or like their face masks, still participate but you can donate the face mask they give you either to a sales assistant, or a friend or save it as a gift for someone.
Overall, great time at Lush, love their products and always have friendly faces in the shop. I just wish there was one a bit nearer or somewhere I go regularly.
