We are back with Oriflame. Can you tell I am a bit of a fan? Now, I wouldn’t blame you if you thought I was a liar when it comes to sprays and saying I never used to be a fan, but it is true. Until I was about 21, I owned maybe 4. Now I have more than 40. Yes, I am aware that is a big jump. Just a little warning, the perfume bug is very tricky to get rid of, and that bugger sticks around. I have a bit of a confession, but I do blame my mother, there was a particular spray she was after, but it was sold out everywhere. I happened to be near Oxford Street in London so I thought I would have a look and see if they had some. I found them but I also liked the others in the range so I might have bought them too.
As you might be able to guess, when I find a fragrance, I like I tend to buy multiples unless they are more than £15 each, then I don’t. You never know when something will get discontinued which is why I buy multiples (I have stopped this now!). What I am trying to tell you is, that I am on my second bottle of this, and I have 2 or 3 or maybe 4 on standby. (I have 4 on standby). Have you heard about Oriflame? If not go and check out my post from September 2020 where I tell you all about them as a company.
I was pleasantly surprised as the main ingredient wasn’t lavender. 99% of the pillow sprays I have seen have a lavender scent. I hate to say it but lavender, it’s not my thing. I have wanted to try a pillow spray for a while. Ya know, pretend I am posh. (Don’t know why I think a pillow spray is a posh product). When I saw this one, saw it wasn’t lavender and saw it was on offer, I was quick to buy it. If you do know of any other pillow sprays that are not lavender, please chuck their names in the comments below because I am up for giving them a go (once I use up my backlog).
You could argue that it was risky purchasing this as I didn’t get to smell it first so there was a possibility that I would have hated it. Strangely, I usually steer clear of gold-coloured items, but I am not sure why. I think it is because the colour gold has always meant expensive and posh to me. Aphrodite is the famous Greek goddess which does suggest a superiority associated with this product. Of course, there is the relaxing side of a goddess, when I think of goddess, I just see Phoebe from Charmed (let me know in the comments below if you know whom I am talking about), with long golden hair, highlighter to high heaven, white fancy-looking outfits etc. If you look at the various lines from a brand, the more expensive lines will usually have gold in the design. However, the design on the Aphrodite bottle is beautiful, and very exotic (but not multicoloured), something you would find in your hotel room when on holiday type design.
It is a plastic bottle, so I am hoping it is recyclable or reusable. Having looked at the bottle, the design is on a sticker which you could remove and then this could be great for a travel bottle. The size of the bottle works the price of the bottle work amazingly! The full price is £12 for 100mls. Everyone seems to be shocked when I tell them about the price. Oriflame often put it on offer as well.
I don’t know about you, but I love a good spray function. Have you ever had one with a rubbish spray part? It ruins the product if it doesn’t spray right. Do you know what I mean? With just one spray, you can smell it straight away, it’s none of these 20,000 sprays and you can smell it. You can probably get away with 1-2 sprays in a double room.
Shall we get on with the actual product now? Let’s just say now, that I am going to be gutted if they ever discontinue this! I am not sure if it was a fluke, placebo or what but the first night I used this I did sleep better 100% without question. I bought the first bottle around mid-May (2020) and it was gone by mid-July of the same year (obviously unless you are reading this in the future). I didn’t use it every night though. I will admit I don’t spray it on my pillow because I didn’t want any residue on my hair or the fragrance on my skin which I have heard is TERRIBLE for your skin.
Now, you are probably thinking “Yeah but what does it smell of”, am I right? The best word I can think of for this fragrance is spa. It is the type of scent I imagine to be in your favourite salon or a product you use for facials or massages. This does make sense, if you are feeling like you are in a spa, your body and mind are going to relax, de-stress and enjoy the comfort of your bed. I do think it does play a bit of mind trickery in this sense. It is almost fooling your mind and brain into relaxing, allowing your body to unwind, and relax and in turn helping you get to sleep.
Initially, when I sprayed it, I was convinced that it was coconut-based. When I looked at the ingredients, it had nothing to do with coconut. It has Gold Orris, White Pearl Radiant, Orange Blossom, Rose, Ylang-Ylang, Cedarwood, Vanilla, Musk, and a couple of other bits. Can you see where I get the spa scent from? I would wear this as a body spray as well and I have done. There is something about the bottle, the spray and the experience that screams pampering, indulging, relaxation and spoiling yourself. Whenever friends and family come around (not very often now with this crazy world) I find the opportunity to spray it for them. Not one person has said they didn’t like it. Two people went on to buy it themselves.
If you follow the rules of Oriflame and use all three of the Aphrodite range products it supposedly works a lot better, but I do not do that. You can buy a shower gel and body oil with the same scent. So really, you should be having a bath/shower to use the shower gel, then use the oil as a moisturiser and then spray the body mist on you, your bed, and your pillow. I have already bought the shower gel, but it is waiting to be used. Again, if you have been reading for a little while you will know that I am trying to use up everything I have (like most people this year).
Overall, if you couldn’t tell I am a big lover of this product, I am currently on my second bottle. The gold did put me off at first, but the scent trumped the colour but a billion. I highly recommend this to everyone who is looking for a pillow spray. Future Sophie popping in. Unfortunately, they have discontinued this range which is gutting. I am hoping that they are just doing it over the Christmas period, and it will return in a couple of months. That’s the only thing I don’t like about this company, they do tend to discontinue quite a lot of items and they haven’t been around for a long time.
