I had no intention of buying this product. When I went into John Lewis to the Origins counter, the sales lady there offered me a facial. Of course, I said yes because it was a great way to try the products, see if I had any reactions and decide which ones I want to try at home. Just in case you are questioning, I went to buy the Origins Ginzing Gel Moisturiser. I am obsessed with the scent of this product.
Anyway, going back to the spot treatment gel. It was used by the lovely lady during my facial. Now normally I try not to fall into the trap, but I did, however, it was a good trap. There is a practical reason for purchasing this item… Simply because I was due to get a new treatment for spots and I had never tried a high-end one before. I also like the product, it felt and looked luxurious. It could be the smallest product I have ever purchased but sometimes little goes a long way.
I am about halfway through; I think you would only have to purchase this twice a year which makes the price of it not seem so steep don’t you think? I honestly don’t have a complaint about it. I wouldn’t mind a smaller price tag but for the standard and results, I would say the price is fair. I would rather pay for quality over quantity, you can find both sometimes but are not always recommended.
When buying an expensive product, I like to look at it this way. I work out how long it will last. Take this product for example 5/6 months. That makes 2 per year. One pot is £21, which means £42 per year. The next step works out the monthly cost, weekly cost or daily cost depending on your preference. Daily cost is 42 divided by 365 equals 0.11p per day, 42 divided by 52 equals 80p per week and lastly, 42 divided by 12 equals £3.50 per month. Overall, this product costs less than £5 per month. Yet, people don’t think twice about spending £5 on coffee each day, it is better to spend £5 a month on skincare and cheaper too.
I have enjoyed this product; it doesn’t do what it claims to do if you’re not lazy like me and you follow the instructions completely. It does still work if you use it without following the instructions 100% it just isn’t as effective. The improvement won’t be as fast or prominent. Also, if you don’t want to drown your skin in it, you’ll end up needing it. (A little tip, if you try to reduce oil too much, your skin will learn to produce more. Try to hold back the urge.)
How does the product work you ask, well, I’ll tell you. It is an astringent or at least works the way an astringent would. It soaks up all the oil speeding up the inflammation recovery which ultimately beats acne (Disclaimer, this is not scientific or medical knowledge, please seek professional advice). No oil or inflammation means no spots or at least should reduce them, again seek professional advice. Tada gets rid of acne by speeding up the healing process.
During my facial with the lovely Origins employee, she explained this product was a good seller (even boys buy it) so I just had to give it a go. Another tip keeps it away from the eyes, it stings.
I would recommend it, and I have already done so to many people. I would repurchase it and plan to, or I suppose I did plan to. A lovely person bought me another bottle for my birthday. All I must do is use up the first one. Head to Origins.com, John Lewis or Boots.com to get your hands on this product.
