September 2022 was a very prominent month of my life. A lot happens during this month, schools start, college starts, university starts, nights get longer etc. But for me, September is so much more.
My family celebrate 4 birthdays (one of which is mine), and my sister celebrates her wedding anniversary (4 years this year). And lastly, there is a particular day which I will never forget. 10 years ago in September 2012, when I turned 16. My mum had the job of ringing me on the morning of Saturday 22nd September 2012 to share the news that my Grandad (her dad) has lost his fight to cancer.
I don’t remember much else from that day in 2012, other than I was at a friend’s house round the corner from my home. I got ready, I came home and told my dad the news. I had arranged to go out for dinner with some friends that night, I immediately informed them that I will be postponing it to next week, but most of them were understanding and gave me the time and space I needed. One or two of them bailed. To which I decided they were not real friends.
This year, I chose to have my nephew on my birthday. I had booked the time off work so I thought it would be nice to not have to rush around and enjoy a bit of time with him. And we did have a good time with him. He is one funny little man, who really loves a good old pea (the vegetable). We had lunch at a local pub on my actual birthday.
I can’t believe we have 3 months, and we are in the year 2023. It seems to go, through January, February, and March, and skip again to October, November, and December. Do you think?
Right, I will leave it there. Let me know what you go up to in September this year.
