460 Staying Organised and Being Productive

Do you ever find yourself sitting, thinking that there is nothing to do, and you are bored? Well, I have a challenge for you. Try to remove the word “Bored” from your vocabulary because it is just not needed. Next time you find yourself trying to figure out what you should do next. Stop, get up and find something to do, use up some energy. It could be anything, just do something instead of just wasting time doing nothing.

If you can’t find something in your house that needs doing which I think is highly unlikely, then you must clean. I have a friend who has a rule that if you go to her and say that you are bored, she will find something for you to clean because there is always something that needs cleaning. Now I am boring in that way that sorting something out and giving it a good clean has a positive effect. I find it so satisfying so when I am not sure what to do with myself or my motivation has hit the deck, I pick something in my room and tidy it. It could be my bedside cabinet or going through my shoes, taking the rubbish downstairs, or taking my laundry downstairs, you will always find something to clean, if you can’t find something you either have a butler or are spotless everything as you go.

Once I have had a cleaning or organising spell, I find myself feeling refreshed and motivated. My mind just feels rested. If you have been following me for a while you will be aware that I am trying to use up my products and objects before purchasing more. I want to cut down on the amount of junk in my life. There is enough of it in the world, I wish my home to be a little less junked. I also hate to throw things away so when I have had a beauty product for so long that it needs to go in the bin it doesn’t sit right with me.

I also find that using up products keeps you on the ball, so you do not run out of things that you need to have to know what you have. I have recently discovered my NO button for when I go shopping. Before I would just buy anything and everything and just end up being overloaded with items. Now I am trying to stop myself if I already have one spare. I like items such as pens and notepads because they do not go out of date, you will always eventually get around to using them, even if it isn’t for a couple of years. I don’t care how much new technology exists, to me a pen and a notepad will never get old.

I like to have the items instead of just having a box that could go wrong at any second. A pad of paper feels much better, it doesn’t bode well if you get it wet but the hard drive of a pad of paper never fails, it doesn’t run out of charge, you have a pad and paper 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

I ask you to join my mission to cut down the objects we have in our homes, next time you are out shopping ask yourself if you need the thing, you are buying or do you just want it. If you just want it, you don’t have to say no every time, just 9 out of 10 times. This will reduce the amount of stuff you have which in turn will help you stay organised as you won’t be overwhelmed with the objects that surround you in your everyday life.
