2228 Waiting for your tank to be ready

If you are impatient like me… this is going to feel like it took way too long. If you go into Pets At Home, they recommend your tank be set up and running at least 24 hours before placing any fish in the tank. Please, please, please do not follow this. It could well be true. But remember fish are living things. If you want to give them the best chance to thrive. Let your filter do its thing. Most fish shops will test your water for you to tell you when it is ready. (Some do charge to test your water, but most will do it for free).
Now, while I was waiting for my tank to be ready, I spent my time visiting any local fish shop I can find to look at fish and see what is out there. I also wanted to learn about the fish, who can live with whom, how to introduce them and just the different fish I could potentially own.
Initially, I wanted a Betta fish. They are stunning! But I was told by all but one fish shop that they are likely to fight, if I were to get a Betta, I would only be able to get other fish smaller than them.
Next, I decided on Angelfish, also stunningly beautiful. But, after a bit of research… I’d have to get other fish roughly the same size, meaning I’d only be able to have 4-6 fish. (Which felt a bit boring).
So… I decided I would just choose fish on the day and build from there. I will get a Betta eventually (but we are keeping that a secret). I am already planning on a second tank, (and a third, and forth). Eventually… I’ll just own an aquarium.
Overall, I learnt that I am not too fussy. Any life is a life at the end of the day. I want to have fish that will be happy, ideally, I wanted to be able to have a few different species together (is that the right word?).
Not long now until I can go and get me so little Fish. (By the way (BTW)… spoiler alert, I got the fishies). Stayed tuned to find out what I got.
