Well, what a year it has been so far. This year was good, bad, and good, and now I don’t know what it is doing. I can tell you that I never expected this to happen.
At the beginning of the year, I was an insurance broker, working in an office not far from my house, it was a small company with about 8 employees. Unfortunately, I didn’t like the way I was treated at that office. So, after two complaints, having to get the police involved and nothing changing/being ignored oh and a family member being threatened twice, I decided to remove myself from the said environment for my safety, my family’s safety, my sanity, my health and just because I want and deserve better. A workplace shouldn’t treat anyone like that. With everything that happened everyone I know has said I made the right decision, and I am better off out of there. I mean a workplace should be full of support, and people who want to push you to improve right?
My year so far:
Went back to work (rubbish job)
Drama happened, I walked out
Panicked for a couple of days
A couple of interviews went by
I was offered two jobs (I took the best one of course)
Started my new job (duh) – an amazing start
A month later the entire world has lost their minds
If you want to hear about my job search experience let me know and I can share that with you guys and girls.
However, everyone on earth is catching this weird bug that requires millions of toilet rolls, all the meat available, and all the soap to help wash it down. Schools are closing, workplaces are panicking, small businesses will lose their life’s work, we aren’t meant to be sociable, everyone has become so selfish and to be honest it is completely ridiculous.
This is one of those situations where we should be working together, looking after our community, and caring for those around us. Nothing snatching everything we can find so that there is nothing left for anyone else. I mean seriously you should be ashamed of yourself, yes, it is unknown but those people who can’t work from home or those amazing people that are working to look after sick people are unable to care for their families because there is nothing left to do so. Even for me, I don’t have time to go to the shops before work and there is nothing left after work.
Every time someone clears their throats they get looked at as if they have just killed someone. In general, keep things such as cereal, pasta, rice, pasta sauce, water etc in the cupboards because sometimes I can’t be bothered to go shopping. There is no need to bulk buy to the extent that some people are. I understand if you have a large family, go ahead, or maybe you run a café, so you need more than the average person. But the average family of four do not need more than 12 toilet rolls and if you do, then what are you doing with it? What if the government issued everyone with an ID card, it was scanned as you went into a shop in the UK and you then can’t get into a shop for the next 4-5 days? The only thing you cannot live without is water, medication and somewhere to sleep.
So overall, 2020 has been a bit of a roller coaster. I do think just like most rides we are going to end a good night and we will look back at this crazy time and laugh (hopefully).
